Bay Of Pigs

Saturday, stared at the wall and sighed, Sunday, rocked back and forward and keened slightly, Monday, dehydration and lack of food brought on mild hallucinations, aural and visual, which made Tuesday, back at work, even more fun than usual.........................................

CD of the week

This has been a very poor week for new music, and I only hope that Sunday with its 12 hours devoted to new records brings some respite. Of course, it probably didn't help that I started preparations for my annual hair metal summer compilation. This was assisted by the WWF(E) legend that is Steve 'Stone Cold' Austin who provided his own soundtrack to the world of rawk a few years back, hence the appearance of Stone Cold Metal as CD of the week!

Two years ago, Richard Curtis was refused permission to film in 10 Downing Street for The Girl In The Cafe. Government officials said they were sorry, but it was a government building, not a film set. Yet last June, V For Vendetta, the Wachowskis' new film, which opens here this month, managed to get Whitehall shut down for four nighs to film the Tube and Houses of Parliament getting blown up by a bomber dressed as Guy Fawkes. So either the Prime Minister's people are huge fans of the Matrix and fantasy movies, or they're less sniffy about granting access to parliamentary buildings if Euan Blair is given a job as a runner by the producers...

1. The largest pig on record was a Poland-China hog named Big Bill. He weighed 2,552lb and was so large that he dragged his belly on the ground. Bill was over 5ft tall and 9 feet long.

2. The biggest pig alive today is called Attitude. He weighs 1400lb.

3. Pigs can get sunburned.

4. The Bay of Pigs in Cuba is not named after Pigs. Its Spanish name, Bahia de Cochinos, can translate as Bay of Pigs, but is actually named after the Cochinos, a fish prevalent in those waters.
